Presentation Description: In this presentation, we will discuss many of the new ways to setup and configure printers on the i (aka AS/400) and what function, like graphics, color and email, are available in various setups. Printer technology continues to improve in speed, function and connection alternatives. After briefly discussing the history of Printing on the i, we'll review the various ways to connect different printers to the i. We'll also review how the i can server as a printer server for your environment. The real power in printing comes from what we can now do. This presentation will review printing capabilities on the i that include graphics using page segments and overlays, color using the postscript data stream, PDF creation on the i, and email distribution of reports from i. There are numerous products to facilitate using this functions, and we'll discuss some of them. Our focus will be on i5/OS built in capabilities. Over the past few years, AS/CC has expanded from traditional RPG/COBOL development services into Web development using a variety of tools and platforms including IBM Websphere and DB2-UDB, Lotus Domino, SameTime and Quickplace, MS IIS / .NET with MS - SQL and more. Ed Weingartner, Division Manager of AS/CC , has worked on IBM AS/400, iSeries servers and System i5 since 1988 and has been a part of AS/CC since it's inception in 1996.
