Presentation Description: GeneXus has been an IBM Advanced Partner since 1988 providing application development tools for the AS400 (System i) community. With 50,000 licenses world-wide, the recently released 10th Web 2.0 version is a completely new IDE providing new capabilities for ease of use in developing Web 2.0 applications for DB2. We will briefly give a company overview, & describe what GeneXus is. We will briefly talk about a couple of System i customers, and what they have created using GeneXus. We will do a live demo by creating a small invoicing application from scratch using DB2 as the DBMS, WebSphere as the Web Application Server and Java as the language (using AJAX). Database automatic refactoring, patterns based development, drag & drop controls, etc. will be shown. The robustness and productivity benefits of using GeneXus as an application framework will be demonstrated. Time permitting, the same application will be generated for SQL Server 2005, C# (.Net) as the programming language, & IIS as the Web Application Server, demonstrating the portability capability of a GeneXus solution. If we do not have a good Internet connection to a remote System i, we will only be able to show creating the application using SQL 2005.
