Presentation Description: Seems like every day there is an article on the web or in the NY Times or Wall Street Journal about Web 2.0. Terms like AJAX, Mashups and Social Networking are almost required to make the front page of business news. Companies like Linkedin, MySpace and Facebook make the evening news. Companies are starting to ask questions about Web 2.0 and what this means to their business. At IBM, we have been looking at this very hard the last couple years. We have used a lot of different social software internally to sort out what is relevant to most businesses and what is not. Our folks in IBM Research have also come up with innovative new uses of the Web 2.0 technology. IBM Lotus Connections is Social Software for business which was launched in January and we want to take this time to show you the impact Web 2.0 can have on your business. Lotus Connections is the first social software specifically designed for business and the response from the press, analysts, and especially line-of-business managers has been amazing. Everyone wants to know "Can social software help me address my business problems today?" "What is a good way to get started with social software?" "What kind of companies are using it and what are the results"? Using data from real deployments, this session will answer those questions and show you how IBM Lotus Connections can help you increase innovation with customers and improve employee productivity -- today. About our Speaker for October 9th: Marvin Vastbinder has worked for IBM for over nineteen years in various technical and sales roles.
