An IBM Midrange User Group

Webfacing deployment with HATS technology

Presentation Description:
For many years, AS/400 users and developers have wrestled with Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) and AS/400 applications. Nearly ten years ago, IBM gave us HTTP Servers and the now infamous Workstation Gateway, a primitive attempt to convert AS/400 screens to web pages on the fly. The good news for us is that IBM didn't give up with that first attempt and now provide a functionally rich and easy to use tool that moves AS/400, now System i, applications to the web quickly and painlessly. With WDHT (WebFacing Deployment with HATS Technology), developers can move their System i applications to the web whether or not they have the source code. To make it even better, WDHT applications are not included as "Interactive" applications on System i servers. In this presentation by Ed Weingartner of AS/Computer Consultants, learn what WDHT is. See examples of real live applications that have been webfaced and go thru the process of web enabling your own applications. Find out where you can go to get more information on WDHT and see how you can get started with you own WDHT project.
