Presentation Description: The term application modernization means different things to different companies. Some will change platforms, some will change languages, some will merely do an upgrade to existing applications and interfaces. This presentation will cover how Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company is approaching application modernization for their existing RPG Green Screen applications. Brotherhood Mutual has chosen to stay on the iSeries and use a combination of Java and RPG, within a Websphere Application Server environment, to upgrade its business applications to a GUI environment. A recently completed project for their Claims handling process will be the main subject of this presentation. Three presenters will give perspectives ranging from Architecture setup, to Java learning, to enhanced RPG coding techniques. Hopefully their thoughts will provide some insight on how this complex process can get started within an organization.
